We at John E. Byrd, Jr. Trucking and Tractor Service LLC have a great deal of expertise in the septic business, and we want to help you keep your septic system in good working order. To do this, we offer thorough septic inspection services. Our technicians will examine every part of your system to assess its condition and to determine what, if any, maintenance is required to keep it in optimal condition. In this article, we will provide a brief overview of what we look at during our septic inspections, so you know what to expect.

What We Look at in a Septic Inspection

  • Tank – The first thing our team will examine during a septic inspection is the tank itself. This starts with locating the tank, either by consulting your home’s records or, if necessary, by flushing a radio transmitter down the toilet and using its signal to guide us to the tank. Once we have located the tank, we will examine it to make sure it is structurally sound and free of leaks.
  • Drain Field – Our septic inspection crew will also examine your drain field, which is the network of pipes which treats wastewater and lets it seep back into the ground. Our team will look for standing water, check for foul odors, and inspect the area for mold, all of which are signs of a failing drain field. If any of these issues are present, we will advise you on next steps.
  • Plumbing – Lastly, during our septic inspection, our team will flush the toilets in your home and run water down the drain to test how the septic system functions. This allows us to check the water pressure and distribution in your system.
