We’re your experts on septic systems and the services they need to perform well.
All homes and businesses need waste disposal, but not all of them are able to get it through the city’s water and sewer systems. Instead, some properties require a septic system to treat wastewater. In these systems, a pipe carries waste from your home or business to the septic tank. There, the waste separates into three layers. Solid waste settles at the bottom of the tank as sludge, while oil and grease rise to the surface as scum, leaving wastewater, or effluent, in the middle. After partial treatment, the effluent leaves the tank and enters the drain field (also called the leach field). There, the effluent percolates through the soil, which removes contaminants through natural processes.
Septic systems need several services to keep functioning properly. One of these is septic pumping, which is required about every 3 to 5 years to remove accumulated waste from the septic tank. This prevents hazardous sewage backups and other problems. Septic cleaning is very similar in that it removes the sludge and wastewater from the tank, although it is a much more involved process than septic pumping.
